A great employee is like a four leaf clover
The other day my cook posted a picture on Facebook of a dinner he made at his house that included avocados. It looked so freakin delicious, and made me crave avocados. So as a joke I told him he better bring me avocados to work the next day (we don't carry them at the restaurant). I was just joking around though, and did not actually expect him to go get me them. If I really wanted them I was perfectly capable of going to the store and getting them myself. The next day at work he shows up with a bag full of avocados. It was sweet and I said thank you, but I told him to not to do that again. Even though it was a nice gesture, I felt bad. He rides his bike to work most of the time and the store to buy avocados is 10-15 minutes in the opposite direction. So he left his house earlier that day to go pick up the avocados before work for my undeserving self. But on a more serious note, he is one of the best people I know. And this is just one little lame example of why when there are so many bigger and important reasons. I will write about them some other time. Next year he's leaving us to go back to his homeland for good, and I am going to be really sad. He is the most loyal, caring, honest, hard-working, employee anyone can ever have. And I definitely take advantage of that at times, but I can say from the bottom of my heart I appreciate everything he does. I don't know how we are ever going to replace him.
